Gorse - Unusual spalted gorse pendant - I was collected after a path clearance [025-0081]

This is a very unusual piece of wood with a dark red ring where the wood has spalted. The gorse has a very unique end grain which an almost snake skin pattern in places. The back still has the bark on providing wonderful texture which you can't help playing with.

The pendant is roughly 5 x 3.5 x 1cm and finished with sterling silver findings. The necklace is black waxed cotton which is adjustable between 40-80cm (16-31") using sterling silver crimps.

The wood was collected after the path had been cleared, presumably to provide a fire break on the sandy moors of Dorset.
