Where does it all come from?
I collect wood (and anything else I like the look of) wherever I can find it. Often it is donated by friends and family or foraged during a walk. These are some of my favourites.

This oak was part of a lock gate on the Grantham canal. My cousin (a talented wood turner) was helping replace the post and was allowed to keep the old one. A lovely grey/black from the preservative and water.
Spalted beech. This was one of my early donations from a good friend. He spotted the log on a walk and bought it off the farmer. This was a leftover piece.
My daughter’s bamboo chopping board that split in half.
Smoke bush or Cotinus which was cut down in my front garden (it had gone rogue).
Lovely dyed and laminated wood that is the end piece from a turned knife handle. Another talented wood turner (and director at Handmade Bradford on Avon) gave me a selection of his offcuts.
A shard from a broken up pallet that had been sat in my garage for ages. This made a beautiful pendant that looks like a wing.
